Many studies indicate that over 80% of data maintained by corporations has a location component. Historically, companies wishing to use geographic information systems (GIS) to conduct any sort of location-based analysis were hampered by their complexity of use, expense to deploy, or static nature. Therefore, location analysis was limited to certain industries or companies with large IT staffs or groups of geospatial analysts.

thincVIew changes all of that. This unique solution integrates both visual data (maps, floor diagrams, CAD drawings, etc.) and business data to create a dynamic, interactive business intelligence solution.

Several years ago, AMR Research coined the term “Applistructure” to designate that technology infrastructure and platforms were becoming more like applications in terms of the business value delivered to customers and their ease of use.

Today, we see that value in the promise of service oriented architecture (SOA) – a technology framework that gives business users an easy way to integrate data from disparate sources and turn that into actionable information without costly or lengthy IT projects.

ABC Stores Selects thincSoft to Put Its Business Intelligence “On The Map”

Leading Retailer Selects thincVIew product for Location Intelligence Across Its Store Network

Jacob Javits Convention Center (Booth 264), New York, NY- January 14th, 2008 – thincSoft, the company that “Put Business Intelligence on the Map” today announced at the National Retail Federation’s “Big Show” in New York City that ABC Stores has selected its thincVIew product for an enterprise Location Intelligence solution.

“We are very excited to be chosen by ABC Stores. As a very successful retailer, they have done a fantastic job of growing while maintaining customer intimacy and a strong brand image,” said thincSoft Chief Operating Officer Jim Kowalski. “As retailers continue to mine more and more data to better understand and serve their customers, they are seeking ways to utilize the more than 80% of corporate data that has a location component. We help them visualize this data in ways never before possible and help them make better decisions, faster.”

“ABC Stores has continued to grow and be successful because we focus on our customers’ needs,” said Glenn Nishida, Chief Technology Officer. “As part of that focus, we seek to work with technology partners that deliver strong retail solutions which can be deployed quickly and easily integrated into our existing IT environment.”

The thincVIew product will be integrated with ABC’s existing Oracle infrastructure and leverage key Oracle technologies to deliver map-based Business Intelligence to ABC decision makers through their planned corporate portal and dashboard.

Most market studies indicate a growing demand among retailers for more tools that enable location-based analysis in an easy-to-use format. From viewing segments of customer loyalty or demographic data on easy-to-use maps to managing product performance at a shelf level using existing planograms and other planning tools, retailers are seeing the value of harnessing location-based data to make better decisions across a host of business disciplines. This type of analysis enables better store clustering, improved site selection, greater product visibility, even improved vendor performance and communication. Until recently, the only options available to retailers were tied to location content providers and other specialty vendors. thincSoft’s thincVIew product is the first to address the market for companies with heterogeneous data environments and those that wish to harness location data from multiple sources simultaneously. This technology ends the dependence on content and data providers for analysis tools and enables retailers to leverage their existing data and infrastructure to make better decisions while maintaining control and security of their data.

Unique GeoSpatial and RFID Visualization Solutions Will Address Growing Need of Enterprise Business Intelligence and Asset Tracking Markets

Lisle, IL – November 5, 2007 – thincSoft, LLC announced today that it has finalized an agreement with the founders of SSS Research to acquire the intellectual property rights of SSS Research.

Under this agreement, SSS Research will remain an independent consulting entity focused exclusively on delivering geospatial visualization solutions and services to the United States Department of Defense. thincSoft will focus on the growing Business Intelligence and Asset Tracking software markets with targeted Visual IntelligenceTM solutions utilizing geospatial and spatial technologies originally developed by SSS Research.

“We are very excited about the structure of this relationship,” said Dr. Stephen Eick, founder of SSS Research. “As the Enterprise Business Intelligence and Asset Tracking markets continue to evolve in their need for location intelligence and improved visualization, thincSoft is positioned to be a leading solution provider.”

“SSS has developed and delivered the leading platform for location intelligence over their years of work with the U.S. government for tens of thousands of users,” said Mike Profita, thincSoft President. “Because corporate data often has a location component, the commercialization of this technology will offer wide reaching benefits to many industries.”

Recent studies have indicated growing demand for these types of solutions. A recent report released by Business Week indicated that over 80% of data maintained by corporations has a location component. Another survey—by Geospatial Solutions—showed that nearly 90% of respondents indicated a growing demand for location-based data across their organization. This growth is driven primarily by the value delivered in location-intelligence solutions across industries. These benefits include: reduced capital and operating expenses by tracking pumps and diagnostic equipment in hospitals and providing greater visualization into asset location; Improved sales and reduced unsold inventory in retailers by better clustering stores and inventory based on analysis of customer and demographic trends; Improved response time and reduced risk of casualties of first responders through greater visualization of all team member locations within a target area; and many more.

thincSoft’s suite of Visual Intelligence (VI)TM software is available as a fully-configurable Web 2.0 solution for corporations and as an OEM solution for software vendors and systems integrators looking to enhance current BI, geospatial, or RFID/Asset Tracking solutions with a location visualization and analysis component.

Visual Intelligence (VI)TM Software Enables Location Intelligence for Rapid Response and Coordination

San Antonio, TX and Lisle, IL – October 24, 2007 – SSS Research today announced that it is working with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) to provide key software as part of its NGA Earth eGeoInt project. Under this relationship, SSS Research provides its GeoBoost Visual Intelligence (TM) software solution to enable situational awareness and location intelligence for multiple constituencies.

“We are very pleased to have been selected to provide the visualization software for this key initiative,” said Dr. Stephen Eick, SSS Research’s Chairman and CEO. “NGA plays such an important role in supporting the Intelligence and Defense communities, we are happy to collaborate on such a critical analysis tool.”

One of NGA’s 12 key focus areas is to look outward to be the most collaborative partner with the IC and warfighter. To support that focus, NGA has identified 3 key principles: Partnerships, Technology, and Standards. The innovative technology developed and deployed by SSS combines with a successful track record of previous projects with NGA to deliver a powerful analysis and visualization tool for the Intelligence Communities.

Before the emergence of Web 2.0 technologies, organizations were limited in their ability to leverage Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and other location-based data. SSS Research has leveraged Web 2.0 (AJAX) and open data standards to enable geospatial visualization, collaboration, and analysis to users through a software solution
that requires only a web browser. The result is better insight, faster across the entire enterprise in an easy-to-use tool that connects to multiple data sources simultaneously using open standards. A recent study indicated that 80% of data maintained by organizations has a location component; and the demand to access and analyze these data continues to grow. With the flexibility offered by SSS Research’s suite of VITM applications, organizations now have the ability to turn this data into actionable analysis quickly and easily.
